Health and Wellbeing Summer 2

In Health and Wellbeing this half term, we learned lots of new things about a healthy lifestyle.

Knowledge we have gained:

  • It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle including the benefits of physical activity, rest, healthy eating and dental hygiene.
  • It is important to make real, informed choices that improve our physical and emotional health.
  • That choices can have not so good consequences.
  • How diseases are spread.

Skills we have learnt and used:

  • Different ways I can stay healthy
  • How to brush our teeth properly.
  • How to maintain personal hygiene

Reflections:

“If we don’t brush our teeth they will fall out”

“If we eat too many sweets it is bad for our teeth”

“We need to exercise because if we don’t we will be really unfit”

Key vocabulary that we have learned and used: hygiene, healthy, important, choices, physical, emotional.

Genius Time

This term in Genius Time the Avenue Value strand that we have focussed on is Pride in Achievements. We have helped the children to recognise the happy feeling they get when they achieve something new or challenging through a range of different activities and language choices. The children have had a such a great time and it has been an absolute delight to see them so proud of the things they achieve! These are the activities your child may have participated in:

  • Summer Madness
  • Parlez-vous Français
  • Brilliant Board Games
  • Team Challenge
  • Positive Play
  • Funky Fingers
  • Enjoyable Engineering

Sports Day Year 2 2019

Such a lovely morning celebrating sports across Year 2! The children have worked so hard training in our PE lessons. They were so excited and proud to be able to show their skills today. Thank you to everyone who came and helped make it so special for the children! We all had so much fun and hope that you did too!

Also a special thank you to the PTA who were there providing snacks and drinks.

Please see some photos below that we hope capture how much fun they had competing!

Reading Books

Unfortunately, lots of our reading books are coming back damaged or not being returned at all. Could we please remind you that any books damaged in your care or lost will need to be paid for. Please try and take good care of them. Many thanks for your co-operation.

Green Fingered Kids Voucher Scheme – Woodcote Garden Centre.

Green Fingered Kids is a home-grown initiative, now in its 14th year, which seeks to encourage children within the local area to pick up their gardening gloves and step outside!
This initiative works through a voucher scheme, that runs during the Spring, in which customers can collect vouchers from their in-store purchases (25p for every £10 spent) and donate these to local schools and youth groups who are signed up to the Green Fingered Kids initiative. These vouchers are then claimed back and can be spent in-store on products which benefits the children’s gardening experience.
Woodcote Garden Centre are proud to run this scheme as not only does it encourage children to step outside and begin gardening but schools, and youth groups, have used the money to help create interactive lessons to teach kids about the importance of the environment, healthy eating and the natural life cycle. Please give the vouchers to your child’s teacher. Happy collecting!
