Get Caught Reading!

We want to see where your children are reading. Sometimes it can be the most peculiar places. Over the holidays, let’s see if your children can ‘Get Caught Reading’ a book. If you would like to share an image of your child enjoying a book, please send them into school with a small image. It can be them enjoying a book on the bus, swinging on the swings, at the beach, under a table or upside down on the sofa.

This is just a bit of fun and will also contribute to a whole school reading display. More importantly, it is to encourage children to read books more often and wherever they choose to, no matter if reading is beyond bedtime.

Book Fair: 1st – 5th April

From the 1st to the 5th of April, the Avenue will be welcoming the return of our book fair!

This is a wonderful event that promotes reading throughout the primary school ages, by selling a range of fiction and non-fiction books. We strongly encourage you to come and take a look with your child after school on any of the aforementioned dates (including Parent Consultation Evening). The fair will take place in the entrance hall outside the office, via the Avenue Road entrance.

Please be advised that these books are not free and will need to be purchased by an adult, so all children will need to be accompanied by an adult, in order to buy a book.

Marsden March

Final figure just in!!! We raised a whopping….

… for the Royal Marsden from our Mini Marsden March. The poster says a slightly lower figure but after gathering the final donations, we can confirm it rolled in at £1626.76.

Another massive thank you to all of you who supported us by marching with us or cheering us on and thank you all for donating so generously. It would not have been possible without you and obviously the passion, enthusiasm and energy from the kids on the day. Well done everyone, together we’ve helped a great cause!

Mini Marsden March

Wow! What an incredibly successful event today was! The children showed so much passion as they marched all the way from Avenue Primary Academy to the Marsden, Sutton. They really earnt their sponsorship as they cheered, stomped and waved flags the entire way! It really was quite overwhelming to see.

Thank you so much to all the parents, families and neighbours who came out to cheer the children on. There was such great community spirit and it gave the children a brand new lease of energy to hear the support they had.

Another massive thank you to all the parents who helped on the march today and those that provided drinks and biscuits once arrived! We couldn’t have done it without you. We really appreciate you giving up your time and it truly was a great success! Thank you.

If you took any photos of the children today, it is imperative that they are not uploaded to social media and are for your own personal memory. This is a means to safeguard and protect our children.

Please remember this was a charity event (Marsden Cancer Charity, registered charity no: 1095197) and it’s not too late to give! You can still collect money until the 8th March or you can donate via the link below (you may have to copy and paste the link for it to work).
