We started the week by learning all about Amy Johnson. We watched a really interesting DVD all about her life, where we learnt she was the first woman to fly all the way to Australia in her airplane. In addition, we learnt about air transport and made posters about this. Next, we discovered that we are going to be writing diary entries as Amy Johnson next week. To help us with this, we looked at example diary of Amy Johnson and spotted some of the features in this. Finally, we gathered past tense verbs and emotive language to help use in our writing next week.
This week in maths we have been learning all about division. We started by understanding that division is sharing into groups. For the rest of the week, we used our understanding of division as ‘sharing into groups of’ to solve a variety of division problems. We started by using counters, then drew jottings and finally drew some arrays.
